Songs & Poems - Too Much Play:
Too Much Play
Now Kitty was a madcap thing,
Kitty was at play
With everything that she could find,
All the happy day!
Shining scissors, thimble, thread,
Reels, and bits of strings;
Kitty, purring up and down,
Played with everything!
Kitty was sleepy puss,
Curled up on the mat
Tucked her nose between her toes
Such a baby cat!
Kitty wasn't feeling well,
Kitty dear got worse
Bring a doctor, if you please;
Find a clever nurse!
Kitty was an invalid,
So she went to bed;
Doctor felt her furry pulse,
Shook a curly head.
"Too much play," the doctor said;
"Bad for kittens wee;
Four-and-twenty hours in bed;
Better then she'll be!"
About Nursery Rhymes
A nursery rhyme is a traditional song or poem taught
to young children, originally in the nursery. Learning
nursery rhymes assists in the development of vocabulary
and in some cases basic counting skills. It also
introduces children to enjoy music. Often actions,
movement or dances are associated with these nursery
rhymes and children songs.
