However far away many of us might live and work, from the rural areas, agriculture supports us. No other way would we have consistent access to out staple foods: bread, corn, cereal, and the flour for noodles. Eggs, dairy, meat from pigs or poultry or cattle, all come from farms. Farming is a labor-intensive lifestyle, as much an industry of service as it is an industry of products. Farming provides people with a very basic need, and on the scale that needs vast tracks of land to be converted into farmland. After harvesting and other processes, the farmed products must often be transported several miles.
Farm toys allow children to keep up a familiarity with this extremely important and unsung industry. Most children would have set including figurines of a toy barn, fences, cows, horses, chickens, sheep and sheepdogs, some bales of hay and other vegetable crops, and tractors.
