Activity toys provide an enjoyable way to refine and maintain mental and social skills, even motivate physical exercise. Box puzzles, jackstraws, yo-yos, spinning tops, jumping ropes - these are all toys that have been enjoyed through generations. They can be enjoyed solo, or in tandem, or in a group. While most activity toys being produced today, are marketed towards growing and developing minds, the appeal as well as the benefits of these activity toys are certain to endure throughout the years.
A simple deck of playing cards, another activity toy, can be immensely versatile. The variety of card games can be learned by word of mouth, or even invented. They can be played alone in a game, as in solitaire, or by a pair or more as in Go Fish, or in a group. A deck of playing cards can also be used as a prop for the card tricks of a stage magician.
Board games are another example of activity toys. Each board game would have its own rules and accessories, and playing a board game remains an enjoyable activity for the whole family and groups of friends.
